Wild Atlantic Way Tour

From the most Northern part of the Island of Ireland, Malin head, Co Donegal, near the city of LondonDerry to Kinsale County Cork, 2,500kms of Atlantic coast line await you, visit 9 counties Donegal, Leitrim, Sligo, Mayo, Galway, Clare, Limerick, Kerry and Cork along the Wild Atlantic Way.

The tour below is a recommended itinerary we have created for you – We are happy to change and include attractions and sites that you may wish to see – We can also include pick up and drop of to all Irish airports.

Day 1 Donegal

County Donegal takes in Malin Head, Dunree head, Grianán of Aileach, through Letterkenny and Ardara to Slieve League and on to Donegal town. This route is approximately 300km (5 hours vehicle time).
Some of the sites that can be visited include Malin Head – Banbas Crown, Fort Dunree Military Museum, Donegal County Museum, Admiral Brown & Foxford woolen mills and Sliabh Liag Boat Trips.

Day 2 Donegal – Sligo – Mayo

Travel from Donegal to Mayo, taking in Mullaghmore Head, Lissadell house, Sligo town, Downpatrick Head, The Ceide fields and Westport. This route is approximately 350km (5 hours vehicle time).
Some of the sites that can be visited include Donegal town & Castle, Lissadell House, Ballinful, Yeats Hyde Bridge Gallery, Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery, Céide Fields Visitor Centre & Site, Westport House & Gardens and Streedagh beach in County Sligo,
‘Three ships from the Spanish Armada were wrecked on September 25th 1588 en route to assist in the invasion of England. While sheltering from a storm, they were torn apart by the severity of the wild Atlantic. You can still see the remains of the vessels at low tide, and a monument has been built in memory of the sailors who perished on that fateful day.’

Day 3 Mayo – Galway

Travel from Mayo to Galway (Relaxed start) taking in Croagh Patrick, Killary Harbour, Kylemore abbey, Connemarra National park, Derrigimlagh Bog, the Sky road, Clifden, Spiddel and Galway city. This route is approximately 200km (4 hours vehicle time).

Day 4 Galway – Clare

Travel from Galway taking in The Burren, Ailwee caves, Doolin, Cliffs of Moher, passing through Lahinch and Doonbeg to cross the Shannon on the Kilimer to Tarbut ferry, Down through Listowel, Tralee and into Kilarney. This route is approximately 300km (5 hours vehicle time).
Some of the sites that can be visited include Arran Island / Cliffs of Moher cruise, Dún Aonghasa, The Burren, Dunguaire Castle, The Cliffs of Moher, Tarbert House & Ferry and Ardfert Cathedral.

Day 5 – Kerry

Journey from Killarney to Dingle and visit the Blasket islands centre. Back through Inch beach and around the ring of Kerry, taking in Cahersiveen, Blaskets View, Skellig viewpoint, Sneem and Molls Gap. Total distance for this route is approximately 350 km (5 hours vehicle time).
Some of the sites that can be visited include Ionad an Bhlascaoid Mhóir & The Blasket Centre, Riasc Monastic Settlement, Celtic & Prehistoric Museum, Dingle, Cahersiveen, Leacanabuaile Fort & Cahergall Fort, The Skellig Experience, Valentia Island, Casey’s Skellig Boat Trips, Derrynane House and Staigue Fort.

Day 6 – Kerry – Cork

Journey from Killarney to Kinsale, Kerry to Cork, taking in Kenmare, Garinish Island, Bantry bay, Mizen Head, Baltimore, Clonakilty, Old Head and Kinsale and Blarney Castle. This route is approximately 350 km (6 hours vehicle time).
Some of the sites that can be visited during the Wild Atlantic Way Tour include Garinish Island, Bantry House & Garden, Mizen Head Visitor Centre, Michael Collins Centre, Henry Ford Ancestral Site, Old head of Kinsale lighthouse & Lusitania museum,  Charles Fort & James Fort,  Desmond Castle / Wine Museum, Kinsale Harbour Tours, Fota Wildlife Park and Blarney Castle & the Blarney stone.
